1.The idea

By using The Familiar you agree not to do the things below. Because your writing is private and generates fiction only for you, this policy is deliberately narrow — it’s about real harm and abuse of the service, not about what you’re allowed to feel or write about your own life.

2.You agree not to

• Use the service to break the law, or to plan or carry out harm to others.
• Use it to create or solicit sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexually exploits or endangers a child — in any form, including fiction.
• Attempt to use the app to produce material that facilitates serious violence or serious real-world harm.
• Harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse another person, including through the friend features.
• Try to access another user’s account, data, or writing.
• Break, overload, probe, or interfere with the service or its security, or scrape or bulk-extract data from it.
• Reverse-engineer or tamper with the app except where the law expressly allows it.
• Get around the age requirement, or use the service on behalf of someone under 18.

3.The friend and Roam features

Friends can see each other’s creatures and display names — never each other’s writing. Don’t use display names, friend connections, or shared spaces to harass or abuse anyone. The visit features are opt-in on both sides and can be turned off at any time.

4.If this is broken

I may remove content that isn’t allowed, and suspend or end accounts that break this policy, especially where someone is being put at risk. Serious matters may be reported to the appropriate authorities where I’m required to.
